Arnold Hagen is our December Resident of the Month.
Arnold Hagen was born on April 5, 1927 in the home he shared with his wife Luming prior to his admission to Fairmeadow.
His parents were: L.B. Hagen and Bella Ystenes Hagen. His siblings are: John (Mabel), Monroe (Jeanette) Hagen, Alice his twin sister and her husband (Bud) Knutson, and Lucille (Ray) Syverson.
He attended Fertile School but then moved to Vallayo, California where he graduated.
He married Luming on July 23, 1979. They had one son together: Ben Hagen. This union brought some step-children who are: Emil (Kelly) Belen, they have 5 children between them and they have 3 grandchildren. Myrna (Brian) Pierson have 2 children. Randy Hammer has 1 child. Ben and (Jessica) have 1 child. Arnie also has several nieces and nephews.
Arnie worked road construction for 15 years, along with some other shorter stints in construction. He and Luming operated Ragna’s Potato Dumpling, Pancake and Lefsa mix for several years. They also own Hagens Mobile Home Park west of Fertile where they rent out spaces.
Arnie lived in California for 2 years, Texas for 10 years, Oklahoma for 5 years and Fertile for most of his life.
He was baptized and confirmed at the Concordia Lutheran Church of Fertile.
He said he has no hobbies, but while at the nursing home he enjoys teasing the employees.
Arnie and Luming have had a motorhome on Maple Lake at Lakeview for 35 years. He used to like to fish, take out the pontoon, and spend time with family and friends.
Arnie was admitted to Fair Meadow on January 29, 2014
